Where the Sidewalk Ends

This book is a collection of poems and drawings created by Shel Silverstein. The poems differ from one another and can be very amusing to read. One poem is called "The Acrobats" which is a silly poem about an acrobat hanging onto a trapeze with his nose, hoping that he won't sneeze. There is a rhyme in every poem. Some poem titles include: "Captain Hook", "Hug O' War", "Hector the Collector" and "Invisible Boy".

Opinion/Critique
I can't not like these poems because I think Shel Silverstein is so amazing and creative. His poems are so amusing to read. I also love how they rhyme because it makes the poems fun to read aloud. Furthermore, I liked his illustrations and they added to the humor of his poems.
Classroom application
A great book to introduce poetry. I also think it would be a fun idea to read one poem everyday or twice a week to the students. It could be a great way to start or end the school day. Also, the poems could encourage students to be creative and imaginative.
